About

oolong-tea-me

Hi, I’m Steven Shaw, 29 years old. I was born and raised in China, a huge oolong tea fan.

This is an independent site I built to help other people like me who want to know more about oolong, or those who know almost nothing about it but want to take away immediately something that can solve their problems.

Internet is an amazing thing. You can be anywhere in the world, but you come here and visit my site, I really appreciate that!

My Story

I began to drink oolong tea for an extremely straightforward reason – its fragrance after brewed is so, so different from other teas I ever experienced before, e.g. green tea or black tea.

I used to be a green tea enthusiast, drinking a lot every day. Until one day I said to myself, “gee, I’m bored”, then started drinking oolong tea. While I still drink green tea sometimes, oolong tea is my favorite now.

Yes, Chances are you may ask the exact reason why. Like above mentioned, I first began to drink it simply because of its smell, and that’s it, nothing less nothing more, totally amateur back then, but I was just excited about it.

Until my friend from Fujian province(a southeast part of China, home of oolong tea) shared some information with me, I began to realize that there were so many benefits I didn’t even know at the very beginning.

After that conversation, I was fascinated about it. Since I just loved the flavor and felt great right after drinking it, I decided to learn more about oolong tea. Then I read a ton of pages on the internet and reference books about this kind of tea.

The more I learned, the more I was convinced that the oolong tea is obviously a magical leaf. As for its aroma, after your first sip, you will never forget for the rest of your life. I promise.

I don’t know my friend’s family owns an oolong tea farm or something, but he seems know a heck of knowledge about oolong tea, even now I still have a great deal to catch up.

He has a cousin who already immigrated into USA and opened a restaurant in Chinatown. Guess what his cousin would like to cater to complement the dishes. Yes, you’re right, Oolong Tea, for the health of digestion.

But there are many more benefits you may want/need to know right now right here. I hope you are not like me when you first start drinking, even though that’s OK.

So Why the Oolong Tea Community?

Oolong tea is a great tea, which is for sure, but there is no such site on the internet dedicated to oolong tea, where you can get a much more in-depth look, at least I don’t find myself or get fully satisfied. So, I decided to do it myself, sharing all the knowledge about this magical leaf unbiasedly. And I would like to provide the best content that I could, pushing the envelope and going the extra mile.

By going the extra mile, I mean you will find something you can’t find elsewhere on the internet.

oolong tea & extra mile

For example, you may ask questions like “why the oolong tea is call oolong instead of long’oo?“, “Wuyi oolong? What is Wuyi, what on earth does it mean?“, “Rock oolong tea – does it rock or just mean I need to rock the tea then I can steep, or something else“, etc.

These are some extremely basic questions, which is exactly why they are totally overlooked sometimes elsewhere. However, in my site, all the questions like these, will be answered, because at the first glance, all these “spellings” don’t make sense by itself, but they have a long-time significant meaning in Chinese history and tea culture.

Why I mention this? Simply put, I just CARE. I’ve been there before, so I’m pretty sure what you want to know about oolong when you first start the journey. I’m always curious about new things, which means if you dig deep you will find info on the internet, but It. Costs. Time.

So here in this site I will put the information in a way that you can quickly find what you want and solve your problems.

As for community, I hope it can evolve into a place where oolong tea fans can share their ideas and experience. So, I need you to do me a favor.
